Senior Counsel - Intellectual Property/IP Litigation at Wichita

Job Description

Position Summary

• Draft, review and negotiate strategic Intellectual Property (IP) agreements and IP provisions of commercial agreements for various Koch Companies businesses, including Non-Disclosure Agreements, Joint Disclosure Agreements, Independent Contractor Agreements, Service Agreements and Joint Venture Agreements and manage outside counsel preparing same
• Manage IP litigation for Koch Companies businesses
• Proactively collaborate and share knowledge with IP and business attorneys at the various Koch Companies in order to better serve clients
• Create IP legal forms, processes and best practices for Koch Companies commercial and R&D groups
• Assist with legal IP due diligence and IP aspects of agreement negotiations for Koch Companies transactions
• Own the IP Legal Compliance function for Koch Companies businesses

Qualifications

Required

• 6+ years of legal experience
• Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office
• Patent experience (prosecution, opinion and/or transactional)
• Patent and other IP litigation experience in the US
• Ability to manage multiple internal clients
• Ability to think strategically and provide clients a range of legal options to meet business objectives
• JD from an ABA accredited law school
• Member of a State Bar in good Standing
• Highest ethical standards and personal integrity
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with rapidly changing business priorities
• Detail oriented and team player

Preferred

• 7+ years of IP legal experience
• Experience with a top law firm and in-house experience
• JD from a top-tier law school and/or graduation with honors
• Patent preparation and prosecution experience
• IP litigation experience outside the US
• Undergraduate degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or organic chemistry
• Experience with IP Docketing or Asset Management Systems
• Experience managing foreign patent prosecution
• Experience managing outside counsel
• Patent Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) experience
