Production Shift Supervisor at Mcpherson

Job Description

Johns Manville is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Production Shift Supervisor, to be located in our McPherson, Kansas plant.

The Production Shift Supervisor has overall responsibility for coordinating and managing assigned resources and employees to produce high quality products safely and efficiently.

The McPherson, KS plant manufactures fiber glass insulation products for residential, commercial, industrial, and retail markets. These products are manufactured in various widths and thickness with varying insulation values. The finished products are produced in the form of blowing wool or in rolls, batts or blankets of varying length and then packaged for storage in the warehouse. Thereafter, shipments to customers are made primarily to locations throughout the central United States. The McPherson Plant was inducted into OSHAs Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) with a Star certification in September 2007.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and enforce good housekeeping in production areas.
• Conduct daily/monthly shift meetings with crew.
• Supervise approximately 45 production personnel, plan and schedule work to utilize equipment, and maintain maximum productivity levels.
• Effectively communicate with employees, and management to drive continuous improvement.
• Utilize key operating indicators for control of product cost, material usage, machine downtime, expenditure control and other shift functions.
• Administer and document training for hourly personnel.
• Prepare labor, material and equipment usage reports.
• Develop and conduct performance reviews.
• Ensure compliance with company environmental practices and requirements.
• Back up for general supervisor.
• Implement safety program/accident investigation for crew; continuously monitor safety processes and compliance.

Job Requirements

• 4 year college degree preferred
• High School diploma required
• 3-5 years manufacturing process experience
• Minimum 3 years supervisory experience
• Excellent communication both oral and written
• Proven leadership skills
• Ability to work independently
• Must be able to work a rotating 12 hour shift
• Proven history of process improvements
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office
• Basic understanding of OSHA 30
