Environmental Compliance Director at Wichita

Job Description

Position Summary:

Universal Lubricants is looking for an Environmental Compliance Director. The overall purpose of this position is to ensure company-wide compliance with current applicable city, state and federal environmental regulations. Essential tasks include but are not limited to review and release Guard Tank Certificates of Analysis, Verify and document Calibration of Halogen Meters, Maintain facility permits, Maintain and update facility plans, policies and procedures, produce federal, state and local reporting forms, insure facility inspections, be available to travel and answer environmental questions/concerns.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for facilities’ compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, (i.e., AST Permits, EPCRA Reporting, Solid Waste, Hazardous Waste, Air, Storm Water, Waste Water, SPCC, and Contingency Plan.)
  • Guard Tank Certificates of Analysis
  • Verify and document Calibration of Halogen Meters
  • Maintain facility permits and update facility plans
  • Produce federal state and/ or local reporting forms, insure facility inspections (storm water, SPCC, Etc) are performed by local management and filed appropriately,

Job Requirements

Education & Experience: 

  • High School Diploma
  • 5+ years’ experience
  • A broad knowledge of EPA compliance with oil regulations as related to re-refinery operations, waste-water treatment and hazardous waste operations. 
  • Experience or training regarding OSHA and DOT regulations preferred
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and other related US DOL laws and regulation.

 

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Biology, Chemistry, Lab Sciences, Algebra, and Statistics.
  • Ability to interpret sample analysis.
  • Comprehension of city, state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to travel as needed to complete facility audits.
  • Keep current all local, state, and federal environmental permits, reports and registers

 

Physical/Mental Requirements: 

  • Physically able to travel and work outside for facility audits
  • Ability to squat and bend to lift supplies, equipment and training materials.
  • Physically able to see the computer and to read paperwork to keep accurate and detailed records and responses while doing job.

 

Work Environment:

  • 70% Indoors environmentally controlled office environment
  • 30% of time working in warehouse or in the field and subject to adverse temperatures.
  • Some standing, filing and walking.
  • Subject to noise from machinery which typically is greater than the normal working environment.
  • Regular contact with oils that will soil clothing and skin.
