Production Supervisor at Hutchinson

Position Description:

Morton Salt is currently seeking a Process/Production Supervisor for our facility in South Hutchinson, Kansas.

The Process / Production Supervisor directs and coordinates the activities of 10 to 15 hourly bargaining unit employees in the processing, packaging and shipping of high quality industrial, food, and pharmaceutical grade salt. The responsibilities include:

Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in the chemical processing and evaporation of salt, loading and unloading salt products, package material, ingredients and maintenance equipment from rail cars and over the road trucks.
Supervise production, packaging, moving, and storing of salt products from production lines to warehousing.
Prepare equipment and oversee work performed in the Facility by Maintenance personnel.
Assist in scheduling production to provide maximum productivity.
Analyzes and diagnoses processing problems and work towards resolving them by involving Maintenance, Engineering or outside resources.
Ensure the safety, quality and quantity of work performed.
Ensure all personnel adhere to GMP and food safety regulations.
Assist in the management of cost center budgets.
Assist the Production Manager in planning necessary maintenance and improvement work and ensure that repairs and corrective actions are completed.
Maintain process and production reporting paperwork ensuring data is accurate and complete.
Maintain environmental records and assist in the preparation of regulatory reports.
Properly administer the collective bargaining agreement.

We are looking for candidates with a minimum of 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment. The candidate must have an excellent mechanical background, specifically knowledge of packaging and conveying equipment. Must have a high school diploma or the equivalent, a college degree in engineering or management is preferred. Additionally, the candidate must have at least 2 years of previous supervisory experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
