Job Summary

The primary responsibility of this position is providing technical assistance to computer system users and to ensures Academic and Administrative departments are provided with high quality computer technical support. As IT Support Specialist, you will provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, and operating systems. Additionally, this position plays a key role in supporting the technology direction pursued by the organization, in consultation with division and department managers.

Responsibilities

Oversee the daily performance of computer systems.

Answer user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems.

Set up equipment for staff use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or software.

Install and perform repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, following installation specifications.

Maintain record of daily problem tickets and remedial action taken, and installation activities.

Read technical manuals, confer with users, and conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems and to provide technical assistance and support.

Develop training materials and procedures, and/or train users in the proper use of hardware and software.

Hire, train, schedule and oversee the cadre of workstudy lab and helpdesk assistants.

Provide technical guidance and advise administration on software and hardware purchasing.

Support the technical direction of the College

Job Requirements

Qualifications

Minimum Associate degree in IT, CS or related field and 2 years of IT support experience required. Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field is preferred. A+ and Network+ certifications preferred.

Must have a strong familiarity with PC hardware, software and peripherals in a Windows environment and experience with Windows Server and VMWare.

Ability to troubleshoot workstations, printers, phone, wireless and A/V equipment.

Must be customer-service oriented and committed to continuous service improvement.

Excellent problem solving skills that support the ability to quickly respond, troubleshoot and implement sustainable resolution.

Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, administrators, students, and staff.

Well organized, detail oriented and able to self-manage with little supervision.

Excellent oral and written communications skills.

Must be able to pass background check and complete Virtus training.
