Job Description
The Product Strategist is responsible for the identification, development, business case justification, and implementation of informational products and the enhancement (or retiring) of existing products, both print and digital. The Product Strategist will work with journal editors and other subject matter experts to identify user content needs and determine the best format, price points, and market timing to launch products and services to Academy members and non-members. Approximately 10-15 days travel annually.

Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or other training certificate in business development/strategy/product development (market segmentation, product positioning) or sufficient knowledge acquired through equivalent work experience plus a minimum of five years directly related work experience, preferably in the publishing or media industry. Must demonstrate proven ability to repurpose content across multiple channels for multiple uses and audiences. Must be a strategic thinker who can analyze current content assets (e.g. magazines, web sites) and translate those into new, inventive content product ideas, with experience in pricing, analyzing product life cycles, exit strategies, and product extensions. Knowledge of or experience with content licensing and intellectual property matters preferred. Successful candidate must be able to articulate and analyze new markets and justify investment and model return on investment. Self-starter with facility in financial analysis, financial modeling, and business management. Must be able to work collaboratively across multiple functional groups in a matrixed-environment. Must be able to work as a member of a problem solving team. Strong communication skills with proven history of success presenting to executive level staff, external marketing partners and industry events. Ability to develop project plans, estimates, and manage and negotiate contracts with the keen ability and drive to execute necessary.
