Forester 

Parks & Recreation Department 

Starting Salary:  $16.95 to $25.35 Per Hour DOQ

The Forester position will lead, oversee and perform all tree maintenance activities on city Right of Way such as pruning, trimming, removals, stump grinding.  Responsibilities include operating and maintaining specialized equipment including aerial bucket truck, chipper truck and chipper, stump cutter, chain saws and other power and hand tools.  The Forester may also assist with Tree data inventory (GIS based Treeworks™), work scheduling, snow removal operations and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade with additional technical training in assigned areas.  Requires three to four years of experience and/or combination with education in the field of arboriculture.  This position also requires basic computer skills to assist with tree inventory systems. Must be fully trained in all procedures related to the assigned area and have the ability to lead, train and evaluate staff in these processes.  Strong communication and customer service skills are needed to effectively interpret and explain city arboriculture and urban forestry polices, ordinances, and procedures to citizens.  This position does require the possession of or ability to obtain CDL and arborist certification within six months of hire.  The successful candidate must pass a background check, post-offer City physical and drug screening.
