About the Position: Serves as a Customer Service Technician for civilian pay to provide"over-the-counter" liaison service between civilian employees, timekeepers, supervisors and the Consolidated Civilian Payroll Office. Serves as a central point of contact to receive documents that affect payroll accounts and to distribute various reports.

- As a Civilian Pay Technician (Customer Service Rep/OA) with TRADOC at Fort Leavenworth, you will perform but not limited to the following duties:
- Providing updated Line of Accounting (LOA) and master data in HR systems, master employee record and DCPDS to include address changes, savings allotments, federal, state and local tax authorizations, charity, net-pay distribution, advanced or restored leave, and adjustments to annual, sick and miscellaneous leave, such as compensatory leave.
- Resolving any problems that occur in GFEBS during input or submission.
- Monitoring bi-weekly input and maintains user and system tables in GFEBS to ensure proper system performance.
- Working daily payroll rejects that failed validity check in GFEBS.
- Researching and corrects LOA information reported to GFEBS DCPS Error Reports on a bi-weekly basis.
- Verifies retro pay adjustments in the DCPS system and explains resolution and adjustments to employees pay records.
- Receiving documents from employees authorizing changes affecting their payroll accounts including, but not limited to: address changes, allotment changes, and adjustments to federal and state tax exemptions.
- Providing replacement checks, special pay, and non-issuance of check requests.
- Coordinating replacement of lost leave and earnings statements between employees and the civilian payroll office.
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
General Experience required: To qualify for the GS-05, based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least two years of General experience at the GS-04 grade level or equivalent which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience receiving documents affecting payroll accounts, distributing various reports, maintains Defense Civilian Personnel Systems (DCPS) files and tables, performing local record keeping.
Specialized Experience required: To qualify for the GS-07, based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of General experience at the GS-05 grade level or equivalent which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience using DCPS (Defense Civilian Pay System) to verify retroactive adjustments and transactions affecting pay, leave, taxes, benefits; Reviewing, computes and/or verifying employee data prior to or after input into DCPS; OR handling pay issues and correction of employee coding errors.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
- Knowledge of payroll accounts and distributing various reports
- Knowledge of payroll automated data systems
- Skill in Oral Communication
- Skill in Written Communication
Time in Grade Restrictions: Advancement to positions up to GS-5. Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the GS-05 grade (or equivalent).
