Summary:

Penton Media is seeking a Senior Technical Business Analyst to join its Data Engineering team. The primary duty for this position is to work closely with the Companys internal Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to elicit relevant information to define requirements and products and assist in the delivery of projects with the rest of the team. The Technical Business Analyst (BA) is the critical link between the SMEs providing business requirements and the rest of the team trying to construct the solution. The BA will work within the Data Engineering Team and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, addressing requests and providing effective solutions, assisting team members to gather and define requirements and working closely with the other engineering team members on design and flow of systems.

Major Duties:

• Work with key SMEs in the company to capture requirements, define processes and other business rules.
• Elicit requirements using various methods, including but not limited to nterview, document review, requirement sessions, surveys, site visits andteleconferences.
• Understandvarious concepts and terminologies, including highly technical content and express them in a clear and concise manner.
• Perform gap analysis by comparing product offerings to requirements.
• Developrequirement specifications, business cases, functional specifications,process models, and state transition models.

Experience Requirements:

• 5 to 10 years of experience as a Business Analyst within a technical development teamenvironment.
• Preferred experience writing user stories and using UML analysis techniques.
• Experienced inworking under an Agile Scrum development model.
• Proficiency using MS Office suite, MS Visio, and MS Project applications.
• Excellentanalytical and research skills with the ability to collect and analyze complex material and data and present in understandable formats and terms.
• Highly web-savvyindividual with a good understanding of underlying web technologies and systems. Must stay up-to-date with latest online trends and technologies.
• Strong background in data analysis, business intelligence, and data management.
• Experience inthe online publishing world is a huge plus.
• Provenexperience working directly with customers and preparing business caseswith minimal supervision.
• High levels ofinitiative with ability to deal with multiple projects simultaneously withconflicting priorities.
• Excellentcommunication and motivation skills with strong attention to detail, andability to interact appropriately with senior level colleagues, vendors,and partners.

Education Requirements:

• A BA/BS degreeat a minimum. Masters degree preferred.
• IIBA certification is a plus.
