USAR Unit Administrator at Fort Riley

JOB SUMMARY:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position:
You could experience the best of two worlds bytaking advantage of the opportunity to become a Citizen Soldier in the UnitedStates Army Reserve Military Technician Program.  As a Citizen Soldier,you are employed by the Department of Army as a civilian working a normalfull-time workweek with all the benefits available to a Federal serviceemployee to include health and life insurance, retirement and Thrift SavingsPlan, and accrual of leave (annual, sick and military).  When duty calls,you can proudly put on the uniform as a military service member of the UnitedStates Army Reserve and receive the pay and benefits associated with themilitary assignment.  As a member of the United States Army Reserve, youare required to perform military duty one weekend a month and at least fourteendays a year of annual training. In your civilian position, you perform work indirect support of the US Army Reserve in an administrative, professional ormaintenance related position.  As a US Army Reserve Military Technician,you are a vital link in the chain of command of the United States Army Reserveand civil service, working with professionals like yourself at locations aroundthe world or as close as next door.  As a civilian Military Technician youare one of the most important keys to combat readiness; as an Army Reservistyou have the opportunity to perform military duty to defend and to serve yourcountry by performing military duty when needed.

 

Thisposition is located at: 85th Support Command (West), 3rd Battalion/382nd Regiment, 120th Infantry Brigade, Fort Riley, Kansas.

Duties of this position include:

•Manage unit and individual training utilizing automated systemsto request

allocations.

•Manages personnel, finance, and automated system activities.

•Performs record management duties for personnel, finance, andmedical

records

•Manages unit supply program with accurate accounting andreporting.

•Serves as key point of contact for recruitment and retention forthe unit.

•Reviews personnel and financial management records and takescorrective

action.

•Researches and analyzes data to be used in recurring and one-timereports.

•Assists Commander in researching and preparing budget proposalsand

expenditures.

•Assists Commander in implementations of and compliance with unitsafety and

physical security.

In orderto qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirementsdescribed below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; ifqualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part ofyour application.

Experience required: To qualify based on your workexperience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience whichprepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as:performing clerical or administrative tasks such as preparing correspondence,filing and data entry; processing a variety of personnel or pay actions; orinterpreting and/or applying regulatory or procedural requirements related tomilitary human resources, military pay, military training or military supply. This definition of specialized experience is typical ofwork performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

You willbe evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills,abilities) in the following areas:

· Knowledgeof Military Regulations

· Skill inWritten Communication

· Abilityto Manage Organizational Functions

· Abilityto Use Automated Systems

Time inGrade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) positionwithin the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent).
