The Merchandise Planner develops, executes and communicates strategic merchandise financial plans and strategies based on historical sales data and current trends to capitalize on new opportunities that support the merchandising and financial objectives of the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Interface and analyze active item data (category/style/price/color/sales/revenue) based on historical sales trends, active item sales, estimated future sales, market trends, and upcoming promotions on a regular basis to maximize sales and profitability.
  • Create Merchandise plan for new item product needs by analyzing historical sales trends, active items sales, estimated future sales, market trends, upcoming promotions, and company sales goals. 

 

  • Analyze and identify active items to be discontinued based on sales movement, profitability, product mix and sales goals. 

 

  • Support new product development by creating sales reports, and organizing sales data for ad hoc, weekly, monthly, quarterly, seasonal & annual data. Create validated reports of product historical performance at the price point, category and key item level. 

 

  • Create sales, margin, and inventory, goals prior to the development and launch of each collection.

 

  • Participate in new product review with Product  to ensure appropriate breadth and depth of product line. Ensure that merchandising plans support product goals. Possess awareness of target customer and market trends to support business growth.

 

  • Track strategically identified markets, competitive brands and product to find quantitative and actionable data to support growth opportunities. 

 

  • Create and maintain visual representations of sales reports, product assortments and competitive analysis.

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors in Merchandising, Finance or Business related degree.

 

  • 5-7 years of Merchandise Planning, Buying and Financial/Analytical experience.

 

  • 3-5 years of experience in building analytical and reporting models.

 

  • 3-5 years of experience with SQL, product management and planning systems. 

 

  • Ability to navigate large amounts of data, create and modify queries, workbooks, and end user reports within a variety of business intelligence software.

 

  • Aptitude to analyze discrete data to identify trends, issues and opportunities.

 

  • Ability to work on complex tasks with minimal supervision and formulate/refine problem definition independently.

 

  • Ability to initiate and handle a variety of projects or commitments simultaneously. Flexible with ever-changing business priorities.
