We have an opportunity for a PACU RN (PRN) - Outpatient Surgical ServicesJob Summary:Under the direction of the Manager Perianesthesia Services / Perianesthesia Charge Nurse, the Perianesthesia RN is responsible for direct patient care in both the Pre-operative and Post-operative nursing roles. The Perianesthesia nurse is also responsible for other assignments within the Surgery Center as needed. Collaborates with other members of the health care team to delivery quality care. Job Functions and Responsibilities:1.Plans and prepares for the pre-procedure nursing care of the patient.1.1Performs job duties in a manner, which is consistent with current standards for the job and with the Policies and Procedures of the Center.1.2Introduces self to patient, check ID band. Verbally validates procedure and is witness to the patients signature on consent. . Answers patient questions and explains each task as performed. Reassures family members.1.3Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy.1.4Completes pre-procedure assessment, identifies the patients baseline vital signs,including ECG, NIPB, pulse oximetry. Reviews OPERA for current allergies, medications and medical history.1.5Completes pre-procedure documentation in a legible and concise manner. Reviews history & physical and laboratory values provided by the physician. Checks and signs off the physicians orders.1.6Performs CLIA waived laboratory tests as ordered by physician.1.7Inserts IV and administers pre-procedure medications as ordered by physician.1.8Keeps family members informed of any delays.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:Education required: Graduate from an accredited School of NursingEducation preferred:Experience required:Experience preferred: At least 6 months of experience.License and Certification:Current RN License in the State of KansasCurrent certification in CPRCurrent ACLS certification or obtain within 6 months of hire.Current PALS certification or obtain within 6 months of hire.
