Job Description
The Director of Inventory Control & Shipping position will focus on inventory management, shipping logistics and the corresponding staff management of approximately 150 staff (inclusive of direct reports- Managers/Supervisors). Provides leadership to and is accountable for the performance of managers and professional staff Develops functional, market level, and/or site strategy, plans, production and/or organizational priorities Manages and directs inventory control functions nationwide Manages and leads dispensing and packing operations for non-pharmacists in all dispensing locations Manages staffing Turn-Over Manages pharmacy inventory at World Class Cycle Count Levels (both dollars and quantity) Works collaboratively with the Pharmacist in Charge to ensure all facets of dispensing processes and quality are adhered to, and corresponding objectives are achieved Provides leadership and direction overseeing the dispensing operation in all dispensing locations Plays a key leadership role in the business planning efforts to gain full understanding of operating capabilities in order to prepare accurate forecasts Perform intake by asking standard questions and documenting responses Work with others to gather additional information or collaborate on interpretation of clinical guidelines or dataJob Requirements
- 4 year degree required 5 or more years experience handling multi-million dollar inventory required 7 or more years experience working with JIT Inventory management systems Ability to manage multiple sites remotely required Experience managing shipping and manifesting area required7 or more years experience managing staff of 70(+) within inventory control and shipping, combination of two areas at some juncture is required Experience optimizing inventory levels required, at multiple locations preferred Hands on experience generating Monthly Standard inventory reports and shipping reports required Experience working with analytics to ensure most economic shipping and handling costs required Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook required Experience managing across multiple locations preferred APICS and/or Six Sigma/lean process methodology experience is highly preferred Pharmacy experience a plus Experience in a regulated environment/industry is preferred Proficiency identifying and analyzing data to improve profitability and decrease costsOptumRx is part of the family of companies that make UnitedHealth Group one of the leaders across most major segments of the US health care system.
