Accounts Payable Manager at Lenexa

Job Description

Position Description:

Westlake ACE Hardware operates 86 stores in seven states and is one of the largest retailers of home hardware in the U.S. and is the largest member of the ACE Hardware corporation buying cooperative.  Westlake ACE Hardware has an immediate opening in its Lenexa, Kansas headquarters for an experienced Accounts Payable Manager.

 

The Accounts Payable Manager will provide leadership to a team of 4 who process and pay invoices utilizing JDA inventory management software integrated into JDA accounts payable and JD Edwards general ledger.  Responsibilities include reconciliation of all A/P related accounts, vendor issue resolution and communications, store management support, manage process improvements and partnership with business groups such as merchandising, inventory management and information services. 

 

Candidate must be a proven leader in accounting with project management experience in system and procedural process improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and continually develop accounts payable team who process and pay over 200,000 invoices annually.
  • Manage account payable/scanning outsource vendor
  • Manage monthly reconciliation of all accounts payable related general ledger accounts including accounts payable, product and freight clearing, purchase card liability, and prepaid inventory.
  • Lead communication and support of store managers, corporate associates and vendors concerning all accounts payable related issues and questions.
  • Analyze and communicate accounts payable vendor debit balances, including collection in partnership with the Merchandising department.
  • Manage projects to increase efficiency, reduce paper processing and improve overall effectiveness of the accounts payable process.
  • Partner with Information Technology, Inventory Management and Merchandising departments for continuous improvement of purchasing, inventory, accounts payable, and general ledger integration process.
  • Partner with Inventory Accounting to insure credits are received and applied from vendors for inventory returns such as vendor buybacks and defectives.
  • Continuously update documentation of accounts payable processes and procedures ensuring internal controls are in place.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Five years accounting leadership experience
  • Strong process improvement and project management experience
  • Must highly proficient with Microsoft Excel and data manipulation skills
  • Experience with JDA inventory management/accounts payable and/or JD Edwards financial software a plus
