Join our team and share your skills and talents with the nations leading provider of healthcare services.The Phlebotomist collects blood and checks the quality of blood from donors.DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:Preparing equipment to collect blood products efficiently.Cleaning and sterilizing equipment, instruments, and work area.Conducting designated laboratory testing.Performing veni-puncture, arterial, and capillary punctures on patients.Identifying and labeling specimens.Assisting in the care of the donor prior to, during, and after donation.Instructing patients on urine collection procedures.Allocating urine specimens.Performing bleeding time tests and urine dipstick tests.Performing sweat chloride collection procedure or Drug of Abuse urine collection procedure.Entering laboratory data into the computer system.Performing other related duties as required.
Job Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform routine blood and urine tests.
Knowledge of lab equipment and testing to perform quality control tests.
Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate with lab staff.
Knowledge of all routine containers and minimum volumes required for specimen collection.
Skill in operating a variety of laboratory instruments.
Skill in labeling and maintaining all materials for collection.
Skill in preparing written reports utilizing the results of lab tests.
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with patients and coworkers.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Ability to read and understand both written and oral instructions.
Ability to maintain strictest patient confidentiality.
EDUCATION
Graduate from an accredited phlebotomy diploma program or an Associates degree in a scientific or health related field.
EXPERIENCE
One to two years experience as a phlebotomist, certified medical assistant, or EMT is required.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE
Phlebotomy certification is required.
