About the Position: Serves as a Victim Advocate (SHARP) at Mission Command Training Program (MCTP). Sexual Harassment/Assault Response Program provides awareness and prevention, training and education, victim advocacy, response, reporting and follow up for sexual harassment/assault issues. Army promotes sensitive care, advocacy, treatment, reporting options for victims of sexual harassment/assault and accountability for those who commit these crimes.

Serves as a Victim Advocate (SHARP) providing professional and comprehensive advocacy services to victims/survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment. Conducts assessments with clients to evaluate needs and risks; recognizing the need for professional intervention and referring to appropriate services. Ensures victims of sexual assault receive all needed guidance and emotional support during administrative, medical, investigative, and legal procedures, and that victims understand the processes involved and that data will be collected, reported, and maintained on cases. Accompanies victims and provides support in securing medical treatment, safe shelter, protective orders, court hearings, educational, transportation, financial services, and follow-up assistance. Provides support before, during and after trials. Conducts interactive training workshops/seminars to victims, community agencies and the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:Back to topIn order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Specialized Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Providing professional advocacy services to victims or survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment; conducting assessments with clients to evaluate needs and risks; recognizing the need for professional intervention and referring to appropriate services; maintaining partnerships in the community, and conducting training/seminars on sexual assault/sexual harassment.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
- Knowledge of Victim Advocacy Services
- Knowledge of Victim Support Services
- Skill in administrative duties
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the GS-07 grade (or equivalent).

Degree: Behavioral or Social Science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position;
OR
Combination of education and experience -- that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
Education: To qualify based on education in lieu of specialized experience, applicants must possess a completed masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the GS-09 grade level, and may be computed by first determining the applicants total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicants education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level maybe used to qualify applicants for positions at that grade level. (When crediting education that requires specific course work, prorate the number of hours of related courses required as a proportion of the total education to be used.)

Conditions of Employment:
1. Incumbants must successfully complete 80-hour SHARP Course and obtain DoD Certification within 6 months of hire.
2. Selectees will be screened by the National Sex Offender Registry, Crime Records Center, and the Army Central Registry.
3. Must Possess a valid drivers license and have the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
4. May be subject to occassional On-Call.
5. This position may be required to travel in a Temporary Duty Station (TDY) of up to 5 percent.
6. The security investigation requirement is a Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) in order to pursue the Public Trust designation for SHARP Victim Advocates. This investigation includes a subject interview.
