- Acts as a team leader on and participates in the installation/maintenance of computer operating systems and components at field offices.
- Troubleshoots/resolves operating systems problems, prepares technical documentation, and responds to users questions.
- Works under general supervision.
- Abides by and demonstrates the company Mission – Vision – Values through both behavior and job performance on a day-to-day basis.
- Oversees/participates in the provision of assistance to branch offices and internal customers for all aspects of software for the mid-range computer systems. Troubleshoots software problems and recommends/implements corrective programming changes as appropriate.
- Sets up/audits user security profiles and reviews security violations report to identify problems. Ensures the integrity of the mid-range systems, prepares annual audits/audit reviews and recommends corrective action as needed.
- Leads/participates in the preparation of technical documentation for existing hardware and software systems. Evaluates current/future needs, identifies existing/potential problems, and recommends modifications to improve processing capabilities.
- Leads/participates in the monitoring of remote and local systems performance. Recommends and obtains approval for system configuration modifications to improve processing and availability.
- Schedules/oversees temporary programming fixes or upgrades to operating system software as needed.
- Evaluates/tests new system management products and recommends their use by the Company as appropriate.
- Keeps abreast of new technological developments and provides guidance/training to less experienced department staff.
Job Requirements
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary responsibility satisfactorily.
- High School Diploma and technical training or the equivalent plus a minimum of five years system programming experience in a large business environment generally required.
- Strong knowledge of operating system software and related installation/maintenance requirements, and hardware configurations required.
- Excellent communications skills also required.
