Job Description
Job Purpose: An Assistant Manager of Revenue Accounting (Invoicing Handling Carrier) must be able to apply and teach the management process according to the Customer First Foundation Principles. Must be able to plan, organize, direct, document and monitor all revenue processes and personnel necessary to capture, invoice, and assist the ease of collectability for railroad freight and extra services. Documentation will include any revenue streams assigned to ISS Revenue Accounting, this contains but not limited to storage, demurrage, contract switching, payables and any other revenue/liability streams. Will have the obligation of correcting data and protecting integrity of the billing data whenever errors are discovered, including processes that may require referencing contracts, rules, phone calls, email, and applying common sense (tracking reports of all the same). Must possess the ability to interpret and apply contracts, tariffs from beginning of operations process to the ending of accounting process. Must have knowledge of RCAF and other adjustment factors as applicable to rates and processes. Ability to learn new processes and accounting procedures as provided in contracts, tariffs or any industry practice (including interline and AAR accounting rules) Individual must be able to meet or exceed all internal and external customer needs. Other responsibilities may be assigned, as requested or required.
Job Requirements
The principal function is to provide administrative oversight to all revenue process operations and activities including accounts receivable, revenue recognition, customer exceptions and the accounting system specific to Handling Carrier and Transload Invoicing activities. Utilization of process controls and information technology services to maximize invoicing accuracy, timeliness and cash flows. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Manager of Revenue Accounting (Invoicing) but extensive leeway is granted for the exercise of independence and initiative. Understand all the inner workings of each function within the department, comprehensive revenue and liability coverage of all services both contractually and tariff. Provide management with creation, maintenance and review of meaningful reports that include the following:
Review Daily Revenue and Liability to determine deviants. Month over month/year over year. Set daily/weekly/monthly measurements for all Revenue Account Specialists to ensure protection of revenue of Handling Carrier and other non-ISS invoice activities. Continuous improvement of invoicing and payable processes through ROOT CAUSE AND RESOLUTION. Ensure customer billing requirements are applied to billing and payables through the auditing process (including initiating processes within other departments) Implements throughout the department company core values including customer first service. Prepare monthly closing entries and ensure compliance and balancing between accounting system and exterior systems. Responsible for completing and communicating financial information and billing requirements with corporate office within published deadlines for accuracy, meeting deadlines, and providing customer service. Complies with published prices, industry rulings, and implements processes to protect the practice of those applications. Ability to learn or have existing knowledge to interpret and apply Railroad Contracts and Tariffs from beginning of operations process to the ending accounting process. Ability to learn or have existing knowledge of RCAF and other adjustment factors as applicable to rates and railroad processes. Ability to learn new railroad processes and accounting procedures as provided in contracts, tariffs, or any industry practice (including interline and AAR Accounting Rules). Create positive CUSTOMER FIRST culture and atmosphere within team and outside departments through long term relationships internally and externally.Work Environment / Conditions:
