Douglas County Heritage Conservation Council Program Manager

Douglas County is accepting applications for a part-time position to serve as a liaison and administrator to the Heritage Conservation Council.  Formed in 2011, the mission of the Heritage Conservation Council is to promote the conservation of our cultural and natural heritage to honor our past, enrich our present, and inspire our future. This is a one year appointment. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Heritage Conservation Council Program Manager will be responsible for staffing and providing technical assistance to the 7 members of the Heritage Conservation Council. Duties will include compiling materials for the Council agendas, recording minutes from Council meetings, managing all aspects of  the Douglas County Natural & Cultural Heritage Conservation Grant Program, answering questions from the public about the Heritage Grant Program,  researching and making recommendations to the Council regarding natural and cultural conservation policies, working closely with historic preservation and natural conservation professional and consultants, ensuring the Council is in compliance with Certified Local Government requirements and performing other duties as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Applicants should be working towards or have completed a 4 year degree in public administration, museum studies, public policy, urban planning, history, ecology, or a relevant field. Applicants must possess strong oral and written communication skills. Experience with grant administration is strongly desired. Attention to detail and strong communication skills required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position requires a flexible schedule, including attendance at evening meetings.  The position will primarily work from home or off-site.  A shared workspace will be available at the County.

HOURS:  This will be a part-time, 10 – 20 hour per week position, not to exceed 1,000 hours per year. 

COMPENSATION: This position is subject to the availability of funds. Salary Range: $13.20 to $19.37 DOQ. Likely starting salary for qualified applicant is $13.50 to $14.00 an hour.
