About the Position: As an Educational Technician at the Command and General Staff College (CGSC), Fort Leavenworth, KS the incumbent is responsible for administrative and support duties required to perform student eligibility verification and enroll students in the various distance learning programs offered by the CGSC. The incumbent serves within the student operations division which supports all distance learning students from the point of their initial enrollment, through their completion of course requirements. The incumbent works with a variety of organizations, both internal and external to the College, in fulfilling the Education Technician duties.

As an Educational Technician within the Department of Distance Education at the Command and General Staff College, the incumbent will be responsible for independently conducting a variety of administrative and student support duties related to managing all aspects of the distance learning student operations from enrollment through graduation. Duties of an Education Technician (Office Automation) in the CGSC, DDE, Fort Leavenworth, KS, include but are not limited to:
· Verifying student eligibility and process enrollment of qualified student.
· Maintaining, updating and tracking pertinent data from student records.
· Monitoring student progress and supporting students and faculty when appropriate.
· Responding regularly to email, phone calls, and other requests for information.
· Preparing official documents and correspondence.
· Coordinating with other DoD organizations responsible for tracking student educational requirements and progress as required.
· Employing various office automation equipment and software applications.
· Examining multiple databases to research and analyze various aspects of distance learning programs as needed.
· Assisting in lower level research activities related to distance learning; including developing surveys, running required reports, and performing limited statistical analysis.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:Back to topIn order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
General Experience required: To qualify at the GS-05 grade level based on your work experience, your resume must describe at three (3) years of general experience with at least one year of experience at the GS-04 grade level or equivalent which prepared you to do the work in this job. General experience is defined as: Developing and maintaining statistical data, preparing academic transcripts, verifying and reconstructing academic records.
Specialized Experience required: To qualify at the GS-07 grade level based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience at the GS-05 grade level or equivalent which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes answering inquiries regarding courses and/or programs, identify discrepancies in reports and/or data, set up classrooms for training purposes, and using automated systems for generating documents or reports.

Time in Grade Requirement for the GS-05 grade level: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
Time in Grade Requirement for the GS-07 grade level: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the GS-05 grade (or equivalent).
