Payroll Analyst II at Lawrence

Job Description

 

SUMMARY: Provide support for all payroll functions. Serve as back-up to the Payroll Manager in managing all aspects of the Payroll Department, including not only the payroll process, but also the coordinating of all payroll related events.



 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. To perform this job successfully, the Payroll Analyst II may be expected to perform some or all of the duties listed, and other duties as assigned.

Payroll

Responsible for all lead activities required to complete HRIS system software payroll processes.

Provide direction for the clerical payroll staff.

Provide training to the payroll staff as well as throughout the Company.

Interact with management to interpret and communicate Company policies and pay practices.

Create HRIS queries and prepare special reports for senior management

Act as liaison between payroll, human resources, accounting and technical services to ensure efficient and accurate payroll processes.

Serve as primary back-up to Payroll Manager.



 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge

Knowledge of relevant Federal and State labor laws.

Knowledge of relevant Federal and State laws and regulations regarding human resource practices.

Knowledge of methods and practices used to evaluate and interpret data and compile written reports in a narrative and/or statistical form.

Must possess a good working knowledge of HR Information Systems, Protection One organizational policies and procedures, and the respective departmental functions.

Knowledge of Company HRIS system and payroll processes.

Knowledge of automated time reporting systems including Kronos time clocks.

Knowledge of and a proficiency in using Computer and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook), and Internet.

Knowledge of Company policies, procedures, guidelines, and practices.

Abilities

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to use discretion and problem analysis.

Ability to work effectively with others.

Ability to work as part of a dynamic team and be flexible.

Ability and willingness to make key contributions to the growth of the business.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Business or related degree and three to five years practical payroll experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
