Mechanical Technicians at Kansas

Job Description

Mechanical Technicians needed.

These positions are long term

** THESE POSITIONS ARE LOCATED IN WACO, TX AND REQUIRE TRAVEL/RELOCATION
**

Responsibilities:

Mechanical Technicians work in a fast-paced environment, utilizing a multitude of
mechanical disciplines to provide reliable, efficient, and robust propulsion and structural testing capabilities. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Construction, assembly, installation, activation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair systems:

o Pumps/valves/regulators/reliefs (of all types and styles), pressurized tanks and plumbing, and instrumentation

o Media include liquid oxygen and nitrogen, RP-1, gaseous helium and nitrogen,
water, hydraulics, pneumatics, TEA-TEB, NTO, MMH

Fabrication of complex panels, plumbing, and support systems according to engineering specifications and requirements

Collaboration with design engineers to develop, improve, and document activities

Support of testing campaigns for rapid troubleshooting and repair when necessary

Adhere to FOD free workplace, ensure all work/components comply with our standards

Obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits, or certifications as required

Follow all necessary regulations, standards, and procedures quality/safety, OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ASME, etc.

Develop novel ways to streamline site-wide processes and increase the reliability and efficiency of testing operations

Perform any additional tasks that ensure efficient and effective testing, as required

Basic Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED

Valid Drivers License, and a clean driving record

Fundamental intuition, aptitude, and understanding of fluid and/or structural design, fabrication, and maintenance

Diverse skill set, be familiar with basic hand/power tools, and be multi-talented in mechanical/fabrication skills

Dynamic, motivated, and reliable personality and work history, as well as proven
dedication and commitment

Resilient and unfazed by ambiguity or changes in strategic direction, maintaining a great attitude through adversity

Proven track record of going in depth and taking it to the next level, not just remaining basic

Experience where quick-thinking and problem solving plays a critical role

Good response to challenges posed by short deadlines

Ability to retain and follow verbal instruction, lessons learned classes, engineering instruction

Ability to work in a high-concentration, high-stress environment, under extended
work hours

Acute attention to detail, ability to see interactions with other systems to avoid problems

Preferred Skills and Experience:

Diverse mechanical skill set, could include but not limited to:

Component and plumbing familiarity (pressure ratings, material compatibilities,
etc.)

Knowledge of hazardous systems high pressure, cryogenic, flammable,
pyrophoric, hypergolic

o Tube bending/flaring, panel fabrication, equipment disassembly and rebuild,
heavy construction

o All types of valves, pumps, reliefs, regulators, gauges, tubing, piping,
fittings, flanges, etc.

o Handling procedures and cleaning processes, specifically for hazardous systems
(oxygen, RP-1, etc.)

Use of precision measuring instruments (micrometer, calipers, borescope) and
fabrication/assembly tools (torque wrench)

Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical schematics

Ability to understand complex systems for quick troubleshooting for operations or maintenance

Familiarity with good housekeeping, tool control policies, or FOD awareness practices

Demonstrated experience where quick-thinking and problem solving plays a critical role

Creative ability to imagine and design from scratch

Additional degrees, certifications, or formalized training can be a plus

Requirements:

Physical fitness/dexterity, ability to lift heavy objects (>50 lbs.), and ability to work at heights and occasionally in tight quarters is
required

Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments including heat, cold,
and rain

Work is sometimes in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and
noise

Typically 50-55+ hour work weeks, schedule varies depending on site operational
needs, flexibility required

Ability to remain focused while working in hazardous environments, while wearing
appropriate PPE

Compensation is commensurate with experience $11 - $24/hr
