Yoh has a contract opportunity for a Biologist / Research Assistant to join our client in Wichita, KS.

Job Responsibilities:

• Our client is seeking a Research Assistant to work as a team member in their Wheat Breeding Program.
• This position will assist in developing and executing a program in Doubled-Haploids for Wheat Improvement, and will report to the Wheat Double Haploid Lead.
• Assistance with all activities entailed in execution of a doubled haploid program, including but not limited to care and maintenance of plants, tissue culture, ordering and preparation of supplies, data collection, and reporting.

Job Qualifications:

• The successful candidate will have experience in the above, plus demonstrate aptitude and willingness to learn, to teach others and to carry out diverse technical activities in the lab, growth chamber and greenhouse.
• Bachelor degree in plant sciences / biology or closely related field.
• Experience with accurate data collection and management.
• Computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office, database and data analysis software.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

• Experience with tissue culture techniques and greenhouse maintenance of plants.
• Familiarity with biotechnology, molecular biology, and/or genomics is a plus.
• Previous work with Wheat research is highly valued.
• In addition, organizational efficiency, detail orientation, strong work ethic and sense of responsibility, excellent communication skills, ability to work well in a team-based atmosphere, and commitment to a safe work environment, are all necessary attributes for this position.
• The successful candidate will be a self-starter, with the motivation and initiative to make technically a challenging project successful.
