Laboratory Technician at Lenexa

Job Description

The Laboratory Technician will supervise and participate in the administration and secretarial duties in the Technical Department. The Laboratory Technician reports to the Material Research Engineer and the new Technologies & Validation Engineer.

 

Operate Advanced Gage Control software system

• Ensure that gages and standards are traceable, controlled and calibrated according to the measuring System Analysis (MSA) Manual

Laboratory Testing

• Ensure all applicable testing is complete and accurate in accordance to internal and/or external specifications and tests methods
• Prepare test samples as required
• Ensure all specifications and test methods are to the latest levels
• Develop internal specifications for materials with the assistance of applicable departments
• Endure all material testing products to be ordered and available as needed

Receiving Inspection

• Notify suppliers and Product Engineers on nonconforming material through the Defective Material Report (DMR) system and request appropriate actions when applicable
• Request and review required material certifications
• Perform receiving inspections as required

Set up and organize QS9000 records

Assist in preparation of engineering reports as required

Participate in benchmarking activities as required

Job Requirements

Experience, Skills, Education

• College Degree or High School Diploma
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
• Proficient in spoken and written Spanish
• Person can demonstrate the ability to adequately read and perform test equipment/instructions
• Basic understanding of Automotive systems and standards
