Java developer at Overland Park

Job Description

Advantage Tech is looking for a Java Developer, for one of our clients located in Downtown Kansas City.  This is with a national company that has been recognized for several industry awards.

 

Application Development:

• Implements application design by utilizing development languages and tools.
• Develops and executes test plans (unit testing) for assigned projects.
• Develops applications based on their evaluation of business and technical requirements for complexity and provides design recommendations.
• Delivers quality code that meets requirements and specifications on time, based on work estimates they establish.
• Gathers and documents business and technical requirements for the team’s  projects, as necessary
• Ensures the code is scalable and meets performance requirements for assigned projects through performance tuning.
• Writes and maintains documentation, on any technical development completed. 
• Troubleshoots and resolves data and application software problems as assigned.  This may involve utilizing SQL and other tools as necessary.
• Regularly reviews the problem tracking system to assist in communication and priority of issues.
• Maintains systems and programs on a twenty-four by seven basis by aiding user groups in problem resolution and providing technical solutions to resolve software or system logic problems.

Job Requirements

Required Education and experience for Level II

Bachelors degree (B.A.) in Computer Science or Associates Degree in Applied Science specific to Computer Science, and two to five years related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Must have experience with the entire software development life cycle; starting with the analysis, design, construction, implementation, and following it through to the evolution phases.

• Required experience in Oracle, SQL
• Required experience in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Required experience in Java and JDBC or ODBC
• Strongly prefer experience Glassfish
• Strongly prefer experience in Unix
• Strongly prefer experience in JavaScript, HTML, Java Servlets, JSP
• Strongly prefer experience in stored procedures, triggers and functions
• Prefer Java certification
• Prefer experience with MVC, web services, SOAP, and xml
• Prefer experience using Eclipse
• Prefer experience in FOP
