USAR Unit Administrative Technician

JOB SUMMARY: Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission.  They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations.  The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army. About the Position: This position is with the 11th Aviation Command, Company B, 7/158 Aviation Regiment, Olathe, Kansas. Olathe is located approximately 20 miles southwest of Kansas City where you will find both suburban and rural areas known as Johnson County. Johnson County boasts great schools with one of the highest rankings in the nation for its educational programs. A well rounded community offers a family everything from superb and economical housing to numerous indoor and outdoor activities.  Description of the working environment: Work is primarily conducted in an office setting.This position is under the supervision of the: Commanding Officer.Who May Apply:

      KEY REQUIREMENTS
    • THIS POSITION REQUIRES MEMBERSHIP IN THE U.S. ARMY RESERVES (USAR).
    • You must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
    • Moving expenses may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the JTR.

    • Complete work not accomplished during unit training
    • Compile recurring and one time reports
    • Assist with various unit support programs
    • Assist unit personnel with various functions
    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:Back to top GS-05: Specialized experience: To qualify at the GS-05 grade level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level GS-04 in the Federal service or equivalent pay band.  Specialized experience is defined as work that involves typing and reviewing correspondence, compiling one-time reports, maintaining files, and using automated systems to accomplish tasks. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills and abilities) in the following areas:
    • Knowledge of personnel programs
    • Ability to use automated systems
    • Ability to communicate in writing
    • Skill in customer service
    • Ability to organize workload
     OR  Education: To qualify at the GS-05 using education, you must possess four (4) full years of education above high school from an accredited college or university (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR  Combination of Specialized Experience and Education: some specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have less than four years of education as described in B.   I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100%.   (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12.   Then divide your semester hours of higher education by 36. Add the two percentages.   The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify) Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) APPLICANTS PLEASE NOTE: Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (particularly positions with a positive education requirement.)         Other Requirements: Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Defense National Reolocation Program (DNRP) will not be authorized. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. A personnel security investigation is required. Lautenberg Amendment: This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Credit will be given to appropriate unpaid experience or volunteer work. Failure to provide all the required information as stated in the vacancy announcement may result in an ineligible rating or may affect the overall rating. Applicants claiming veterans preference should clearly show an entitlement to such preference on the resume/supplemental data submitted.
