The Coleman Company, Inc.Job Description Job Title: Operator, Sheet Line/Extruder/Set-UP Summary: Sets up, troubles shoots process and operate plastic extruder line equipment to produce quality plastic sheet. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Set-up sheet extrusion system, including extruder, extruder die, chill rolls, conveyors, slitting knives, tension roll and shear Operate system in production Continually monitor equipment, gauges, material and makes adjustments to maintain quality parts Coordinates machine operation and parts orders with other operators, schedulers and supervision Operate thermo forming equipment as needed Completes forms and other paperwork Monitor and adjust material feed system Notifies supervision and maintenance of needed major repairs such as changing extruder feed screw, etc. Previous experience in physically demanding work in factory environment Must be able to work a weekend schedule as needed Keeps work station in order Handles materials to and from work station Change filters and lubricate extruder equipment as required Thoroughly cleans all extruder equipment Gets job instructions Observe all safety rules Maintains extruder supplies such as filter screens Assists in making repairs Makes minor repairs such as pump seals, polish dies, broken bolts, etc. Supports team objectives Other duties as assigned Must have ability to drive a forklift Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Prior sheet line experience and a high mechanical aptitude required. Experience using micrometers and other measuring equipment required. Experience in a Lean/5S environment preferred. High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
